The prestigious World’s 50 Best Hotels list for 2024 was revealed on September 17 at an awards ceremony in London. Now in its second edition, this global ranking features 50 hotels from 37 destinations across six continents. Notably, Sujan Jawai, a luxury wilderness retreat in Rajasthan, secured the 43rd spot, marking India’s sole representation on the list.

Sujan Jawai, established in 2013 by Jaisal and Anjali Singh, is celebrated for its unique approach to blending luxury with untamed natural beauty. The retreat offers guests ten tented suites set within a stunning camp, providing a range of experiences, from leopard tracking to outdoor yoga, spa treatments, and meals inspired by local flavours under the stars.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels described Sujan Jawai as “a rare proposition,” emphasising the balance it achieves between tradition and modernity, as well as luxury and the wilderness. “Think part safari camp, part design darling, part destination diner, and you’ll get the idea,” noted the accolade.

Sujan Jawai’s inclusionalso reflects the growing dominance of Asia in the hospitality industry, with 19 hotels from the continent featured on this year’s list. The top three hotels globally were Capella in Bangkok, Passalacqua in Lake Como, and Rosewood in Hong Kong.
