How to Become an APOLA Member

For developers, manufacturers, service providers, managing entities, professional firms and other entities which are interested in supporting APOLA, please access the online APOLA Membership Application Form, fill it out as fully as possible and then submit it [after uploading any supporting documents] after which it will be circulated to the APOLA Executive Committee for consideration. You will be advised of the outcome of your application as quickly as possible. Thank you.

Promote Sustainable Practices

APOLA’s primary goal is to champion and advance sustainable practices within the outdoor lodging industry across the Asia Pacific region. This involves developing and disseminating best practices in eco-friendly construction, resource management, waste reduction, and community engagement. By promoting sustainability, APOLA aims to minimize the environmental impact of outdoor lodging while contributing positively to local communities and preserving the natural beauty of the region.

Foster Industry Collaboration & Innovation

APOLA seeks to create a collaborative environment where outdoor lodging providers, industry experts, and stakeholders can come together to share knowledge, insights, and innovations. By fostering collaboration, the association aims to drive continuous improvement in the quality of outdoor lodging experiences. This includes the exchange of ideas on new technologies, design concepts, and operational strategies that enhance the overall guest experience and contribute to the long-term success of the industry.

Advocate for Responsible Tourism Policies

APOLA is committed to advocating for policies that support responsible and sustainable tourism within the Asia Pacific region. This involves engaging with governments, regulatory bodies, and other relevant stakeholders to shape policies that promote environmental conservation, community development, and cultural preservation. By actively participating in policy discussions and initiatives, APOLA aims to create a regulatory framework that encourages responsible business practices and ensures the long-term viability of outdoor lodging while balancing the interests of various stakeholders.

Governance

The Asia-Pacific Outdoor Lodging Association [“APOLA”] has been established as a not-for-profit [“NPO”] Trade Body and registered as a SOCIETY with the Registrar of Societies in Singapore, where political stability and corporate governance are renowned and internationally recognized.

Within Singapore, a society is defined as a club, company, partnership, or association of 10 or more persons, whatever its nature or objective, and not already registered under any other law. An NPO in Singapore is a legally constituted organisation whose main purpose is to support or engage in activities of public or private interest without any commercial or monetary profit.

APOLA’s primary purpose is to promote the orderly development of the outdoor lodging industry within the Asia-Pacific region. The Association shall coordinate and promote activities, programs and events which support the goals of the Association.

It’s objects are as follows:

  1. to promote the orderly growth and development of the outdoor lodging industry within the Asia-Pacific Region.
  2. to develop dialogue and collaboration between the Association and other trade associations working for similar purposes.
  3. to promote high quality, sustainable and eco-friendly resort development.
  4. to carry on any other activities the Members may decide in furtherance of the objects of the Association.
  5. to develop best practice guidelines for use within the Asia-Pacific outdoor lodging industry.
  6. to educate the public regarding the outdoor lodging industry and sustainability.
  7. to apply any profits of the Association in furthering the objects of the Association.


The Singapore Registrar of Societies has approved APOLA’s Constitution. It contains specific definitions and establishes the Association’s objectives, qualifications for membership and related rights, admission fees and subscriptions, conduct of meetings, management of the Association, the Management Committee’s powers, duties of Officers, requirements for annual audit, lists activities which are prohibited and contains various other provisions for the Association’s operation and governance. Members can access a copy of the Constitution through the Membership Portal.

APOLA Members are committed to the highest standards of professionalism in the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Lodging Industry for the benefit of the public and the communities in which they operate. The APOLA Code of Conduct can be downloaded here for reference.
