Variety of Tent Styles Boosts Marketing Options

GlamXperience is installing four luxury safari tents at Discovery Resorts Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia.

Wilpena Pound is one of Australia’s most memorable destinations. Known for its dramatic amphitheatre of mountains, ancient landscapes and hiking opportunities, it’s a place where guests come to connect with nature.

It’s also a location that perfectly suits the safari tent experience. The tents being installed by GlamXperience are designed to immerse guests in the surrounding landscape while providing a high level of comfort and flexibility.

However, working in such a remote and rugged environment comes with challenges.

In the lead-up to installation, we faced drought conditions, where the soil became extremely hard and difficult to work with. Then, just before installation, the weather turned completely, bringing heavy rainfall and localised flooding. At one point, access to the site became limited. We were unable to get containers with materials on location.

These changing conditions are part of working in Australia’s outback—and something we factor into every project.

Designed for Experience and Connection

Each safari tent at Wilpena Pound is positioned to maximise views and create a strong connection with the surrounding landscape. At the front, we’ve integrated our signature large sunken lounge, allowing guests to sit down into the deck and take in the scenery.

By extending the roof over this area, the space can be used comfortably in both sun and rain—making it a true outdoor living area.

Inside, the layout is designed around flexibility. A king bed forms the centrepiece, creating a hotel-style experience for couples. At the same time, a bunk bed is integrated into a side nook at the back of the tent. This allows the unit to also be used for families.

Flexibility, Diversity & Repeat Guests

At Wilpena Pound, Discovery Resorts already offers safari tents from Eco Structures alongside GlamXperience. This highlights something we see across the industry: diversity in different types and styles of tents is becoming increasingly important.

Guests who have stayed in one style of tent are often curious to return and experience another. This creates an opportunity for repeat bookings, simply by offering variation within the same resort.

We also see that social media has become a key booking driver. Resorts today need a constant flow of fresh content to stay visible and relevant. By offering multiple styles of accommodation and different interior layouts, operators can continue to share new visuals and experiences, keeping attention high and seeding demand.

Flexible Design That Drives Revenue

This approach is something GlamXperience focuses on. We aim to create interiors that feel like a premium stay for couples, while subtly integrating additional sleeping options for children. By designing these spaces as nooks or loft-style areas, they can also function as reading or relaxation zones when not in use for sleeping.

This flexibility allows operators to target multiple markets with the same unit—couples, families, and small groups—ultimately increasing occupancy and revenue potential.

A Natural Fit for the Location

Wilpena Pound is a destination where nature is the main attraction.

By combining thoughtful design with minimal impact structures, these safari tents allow guests to experience the landscape in a more meaningful way—without compromising on comfort.

GlamXperience is excited to see this project come to life and to contribute to an experience that reflects both the uniqueness of the location and the growing demand for nature-based stays across Australia.
